Guild Festival Theatre operates in Scarborough’s Guild Park on the outdoor Greek stage. This year we will be presenting Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer directed by Jamie Robinson from July 12-August 13.
We are seeking secondary and post-secondary students to work for us in various capacities.
Available Paid Positions (subject to change):
Production Assistant: 6 week contract commencing July 4. Work directly with the Production Manager/Technical Director to prepare outdoor venue for production. On hand for load in, technical rehearsals and strike every evening of performance.
Wardrobe Assistant: 10 week contract commencing June 5. Working directly with the costume designer on purchasing and renting materials. On site wardrobe person during shows. Must be available for all shows and must have sewing and costume building/maintenance skills.
Assistant Stage Manager: 10 week contract commencing June 5. Work directly with the stage management team. Must be available for all rehearsals and shows.
Assistant Director: 6 week contract commencing June 1. Working directly with the director, the AD will compile research and attend all rehearsals up to opening night on July 13th.
Marketing Assistant: Start date to be determined. 6 week contract (between June 1st and August 13th). Assist with Marketing and box office management during the run of the show.
All Candidates must be enrolled full-time in secondary or post-secondary courses for the fall of 2017 and must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee protected.

The Guild Festival Theatre returns in 2017 with the 1773 play SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER by British playwright Oliver Goldsmith. This classic comedy features an empowered young woman taking control over her oppressed societal status in cunning and witty ways. In a similar vein to Hollywood’s popular wedding-themed comedies, She Stoops to Conquer symbolizes the fight for freedom of expression with heart and riotous humour.
This theme seems particularly appropriate for the 150th anniversary of the creation of Canada. Additionally, with nightly wedding receptions booked all summer long in the brand new neighbouring banquet hall, our choice of this play will surely harmonize beautifully with the exciting revitalized Guild Park facilities surrounding our stage. Our triumphant 2017 return will also coincide with the 85th Anniversary of Guild of All Arts. See the exciting updates here:
